This allows you to rotate images. When you take a picture in portrait mode (taller than wide) by rotating the camera 90 degrees, the image needs to be rotated to be viewed correctly. Access this screen by clicking the 'Rotate' button on the EXIF editor screen. Rotate Direction Specify the rotation direction. Rotating an image clockwise 90 degrees is the same as rotating it 270 degrees counterclockwise. The red arrow gives you a visual indication of the direction. Back to the top Rotate Degrees Normally, you should only rotate images in 90 degree increments. If you rotate to something other than that, like 45 degrees, be sure that you understand the adverse effects of doing so by reading the 'Resize Image' and 'Fill Color' options below. Back to the top Resize Image This option does not apply if the rotation angle is an even multiple of 90 degrees. If the rotation angle isn't an even multiple of 90 degrees, like 45 degrees, the image needs to be resized (made larger) in order to prevent the corners from being chopped off. You can picture this by imagining 2 rectangles on top of one another - if you rotate the top rectangle 45 degrees, the bottom rectangle needs to be made larger in order to fully contain the top rectangle. Back to the top Fill Color This option does not apply if the rotation angle is an even multiple of 90 degrees. If the rotation angle isn't an even multiple of 90 degrees, like 45 degrees, empty areas will be exposed after rotating that are void of color. The fill color allows you to specify a color for filling these empty areas. To minimize the adverse effects of doing this, the color that you specify should match the web page background color defined in the HTML customization file. Back to the top OK Click this button to rotate the image. The resulting image will be saved to disk, overwriting the existing copy. Back to the top Close Click this button to close the form.
